C4 Large Oranges
1 tbsp Vegetable Oil1 tsp Mustard Seeds
1 tsp Cumin seeds
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
1/2 tsp Red chilli powder
1/4 tsp Hing
to taste Salt
1/2 cup Sugar2 Dried chilies
2 tbsp Vinegar
- Wash and peel the oranges. Remove any seeds you can find and chop the flesh into small pieces.
- Take a pan and add vegetable oil to it. Once it’s hot, add mustard seeds and allow them to splutter. Now add cumin seeds. Saute until it gives out a nice aroma.
- Lower the heat and add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and hing. Stir well to combine the ingredients.
- Now add chopped oranges to the pan and mix so that the spices coat the fruit. Cook the oranges for about 15-20 minutes and stir occasionally till it's soft and the mixture is thick.
- To this, add sugar and salt to balance the taste. Keep mixing until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- At this point, if you feel the chutney is too sweet and sour, add dried red chillies and let the mixture cook on a simmer for another 10 minutes or until it has a chutney-like consistency.
- Once it's done, add vinegar and stir well. Adjust the taste as per your preference and remove the chutney from the pan once done.
- Let it cool down and serve!
Orange chutney offers a delightful blend of sweet, tangy, and savory flavors, making it an ideal accompaniment to a wide range of dishes.
